Simply Good Coffee The Grinder (Plastic-Free)

Coming soon

The category-changer - an electric burr grinder where beans and grounds touch only glass and steel, no plastic or aluminum. Pre-order (ships Sept 2026), but it's the plastic-free electric grinder that hasn't existed until now.

Not released yet

Pre-order, shipping September 2026. It's the plastic-free electric grinder this category has lacked - we'll confirm the rating once production units ship.

The verdict: Plastic-free

Almost every electric grinder routes beans and grounds through a plastic hopper and a static-prone plastic bin - which is why our picks here are otherwise all manual. Simply Good Coffee's grinder is the exception: the hopper and catch cup are borosilicate glass, and the burrs, grinding chamber, and chute are stainless steel, so the brand states coffee never contacts plastic or aluminum at any point. An active ion-probe anti-static system replaces the plastic-with-static compromise. If it ships as described, it's a genuinely plastic-free electric grinder - no silicone in the path either. Because it's pre-order (Sept 2026) and unshipped, we rate it on the claim, not a verified unit.

From "America's first plastic-free home appliance company," the electric companion to their plastic-free Brewer. Beans load into a glass hopper and grind into a glass catch cup, with 48 micro-step adjustment, four brew presets, quiet (<67 dBA) operation, and an ion-probe anti-static system so grounds drop cleanly into the glass rather than clinging to it. It's pre-order as of mid-2026, with delivery estimated September 2026, so we're listing it now as the one to watch and will verify once units ship.

Pros

  • The rare plastic-free ELECTRIC grinder - no hand-grinding
  • Ion-probe anti-static means the glass catch works without static cling
  • Micro-step adjustment, brew presets, quiet, 5-year warranty

Cons

  • Not shipping yet (pre-order, est. September 2026) - claim unverified on a production unit
  • Expensive
  • Conical burrs (some prefer flat for consistency)
