Ninja

Specs partially disclosed Made in China ninjakitchen.com ↗

Ninja is a mass-market air-fryer brand whose default is PTFE-coated baskets, and the Crispi is a partial step away rather than a clean break: the cooking containers are borosilicate glass with no PTFE, but food still sits on a nano-ceramic-coated aluminum crisper plate, so it's coating-minimized, not coating-free - hence the "minimal-contact" rating. The "free of PFAS and PTFE" framing is real for the glass, but it quietly sidesteps the coated plate underneath. Across the wider lineup, plastic and nonstick are still the norm; the glass line is the exception they market hardest.

How clear are their specs?

Clear that the Crispi glass is PTFE/PFAS-free, but the ceramic coating on the crisper plate is only vaguely characterized and easy to miss behind the "glass air fryer" pitch.

Lead testing disclosure

Ninja repeats a bare "PFOA-, PFAS-, cadmium- and lead-free" claim across product pages, but no dedicated testing/safety page, named lab report, or actual ppm/detection-limit figures were found - a marketing claim without published backing.

Products we recommend

$$$$ Ninja Crispi Glass Air Fryer

Crispi Glass Air Fryer

Minimal plastic contact Better: No-contact plastic

Borosilicate-glass cooking containers with no PTFE - but food still sits on a nano-ceramic-coated aluminum crisper plate, so it is not fully coating-free.

$$ Ninja Foodi SP101 8-in-1 digital air fry flip oven with air-fry basket and sheet-pan accessories on white background

Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven (SP101)

Minimal plastic contact

A capable flip-away air-fry toaster oven with a bare-metal interior - but its bundled air-fry basket is Teflon-coated, so it is only a clean choice if you cook on a stainless tray or swap in a stainless mesh basket.

Products to avoid

Documented so you know what to skip — each still has a full breakdown and sources.

$$$ Ninja Air Fryer AF101 (4 QT)

Air Fryer AF101 (4 QT)

Minimal plastic contact Not recommended

The #1 bestselling basket air fryer. Its basket and crisper plate use a PFAS-free ceramic (sol-gel) nonstick coating - genuinely better than a Teflon basket, but still an applied coating food scrapes at 400F, so it is not coating-free.

$$$ Ninja 12-Cup Programmable Brewer (CE251)

12-Cup Programmable Brewer (CE251)

Mostly plastic Not recommended

A best-selling programmable drip machine with a glass carafe that hides an all-plastic water path - a 60oz plastic reservoir, plastic internal tubing, a plastic showerhead, and a plastic brew basket, all in hot-water contact every brew.

$$ Ninja Foodi NeverStick Premium Fry Pan

Foodi NeverStick Premium Fry Pan

Mostly plastic Not recommended

Despite the "NeverStick" name, the coating is PTFE-based - a fluoropolymer in the PFAS family - in direct food contact. It's PFOA- and PFA-free, but "NeverStick" does not mean PTFE-free.
