SodaStream E-Duo
SodaStream's glass-carafe machine - carbonates into a dishwasher-safe 1L glass carafe, though the carbonation nozzle and carafe collar are still plastic.
The verdict: Minimal plastic contact
The E-Duo carbonates directly into a 1L dishwasher-safe glass carafe, so your seltzer is made and stored in glass instead of sitting for days in a PET bottle - that's the big win over the standard Terra/Art machines. It is not a clean water path, though: the carbonation nozzle that dips into the water during the (brief) carbonation cycle is plastic, and the carafe's cap/collar hardware is plastic. A "BPA-free" PET carbonating bottle is included but optional. Minimal-contact: far less plastic exposure than a standard soda maker, not plastic-free.

SodaStream's premium electric machine (launched May 2024) and the most widely available glass-bottle option in the US. One-touch electric carbonation with three preset levels, into either the glass carafe or the included PET bottle. The glass carafe is exclusive to the E-Duo (older Duo/Aqua Fizz carafes don't fit).
Pros
- Carbonate, store, and serve in a dishwasher-safe glass carafe
- Widely available (SodaStream retail presence, easy cylinder swaps)
- Roughly half the price of the Aarke Carbonator Pro
- Consistent one-touch electric carbonation
Cons
- Plastic carbonation nozzle and plastic carafe cap/collar in the water path
- Electric only; the manual Duo is discontinued/hard to find
- Plastic machine housing - none of the steel look-and-feel of Aarke
