Philips Avent Natural (Plastic)
One of the most common bottles in the world - and in its default form the bottle is polypropylene and the nipple silicone, so the entire milk vessel is plastic.
The verdict: Mostly plastic
The standard Philips Avent Natural is a polypropylene bottle with a silicone nipple and a polypropylene screw ring - the whole milk vessel is plastic. It's everywhere, it's BPA-free, and the wide breast-shaped nipple is genuinely good, but the milk sits in and pours from polypropylene. A glass Natural exists, yet even there the screw ring that seats the nipple is plastic. Listed as a corrective because "BPA-free" and its ubiquity lead many parents to assume it's a safe-material choice when it is, structurally, a plastic bottle.

What it's made of
| Part | Material | Food contact |
|---|---|---|
| bottle body BPA-free polypropylene; the milk vessel on the standard Natural bottle | Polypropylene PP, #5 | Yes primary |
| nipple soft silicone breast-shaped nipple - the only non-plastic drink-contact part | Silicone | Yes primary |
| screw ring / collar BPA-free polypropylene ring that seats the nipple over the milk | Polypropylene PP, #5 | Yes incidental |
| cap BPA-free polypropylene dome cap | Polypropylene PP, #5 | No |
The Philips Avent Natural is probably the single most common bottle on the shelf, and the wide, soft silicone nipple is a real strength for combination feeding. The bottle is dishwasher- and sterilizer-safe and takes the standard Natural Response nipples. Philips sells a glass version of the Natural for parents who want the same nipple on a non-plastic body.
Pros
- Excellent wide, breast-shaped silicone nipple for combination feeding
- BPA-free and available literally everywhere, with cheap parts
- Philips clearly documents each part's material
Cons
- The milk vessel is polypropylene, dishwashed and sterilized daily
