Breville InFizz Fusion
Breville's premium carbonator - carbonates juice, cocktails, and water, but into a BPA-free plastic bottle (with a steel cap/base). Steel machine, plastic water path.
The verdict: Minimal plastic contact
The InFizz Fusion is the best-built and most versatile home carbonator - its FusionCap can carbonate almost any cold liquid (juice, wine, cocktails), which only the Drinkmate otherwise does. But from a plastic-free standpoint it is a classic "steel outside, plastic inside" story: the brushed-stainless machine and the bottle's stainless cap and base are steel, while the bottle body your drink is carbonated and stored in is BPA-free plastic. So the drink-contact vessel is plastic, same as a SodaStream. Rated minimal-contact as the category's plastic baseline; the steel accents don't change the water path. (Breville's water-only InFizz Aqua is the same story with the same plastic bottle.)

Breville's premium sparkling-beverage maker and, by build quality, arguably the nicest machine in the category. The FusionCap lets you carbonate not just water but juice, wine, and cocktails, and control the CO2 release speed; the Twist & Lock system seats the bottle. It uses standard 60L screw-in CO2 cylinders and ships with a 1L bottle. If carbonating non-water drinks is the whole point for you, it's excellent at that - only the Drinkmate otherwise does it.
Pros
- Best build quality in the category; brushed stainless machine
- Carbonates almost any cold liquid, not just water (FusionCap)
- Adjustable CO2 release; stainless bottle cap and base
- Standard 60L screw-in CO2 cylinders
Cons
- Drink is carbonated in and stored in a BPA-free plastic bottle
- Plastic carbonation nozzle in the liquid path
- No glass bottle option, and expensive for a plastic-bottle machine
