Design-first, not plastic-free-first, and the results are mixed depending on the product. The Stagg kettle keeps water on steel and silicone, and the Carter mug gives you a ceramic lip to sip from — but plastic creeps into the parts you handle (lid pulls, sip lids, bases). The Opus grinder is the tell: a premium look wrapped around a plastic hopper and plastic grind path, which is why we don't recommend it. Fellow will use BPA-free plastic wherever the industrial design calls for it.
How clear are their specs?
Interiors are described as stainless and silicone parts get named, but the plastic in handles, lids, and bases is leaned on as "BPA-free" rather than fully itemized, and the grinder's all-plastic path isn't the headline.
Lead testing disclosure
Publishes a dedicated support-site FAQ that names the actual mechanism: Carter Mugs use lead solder in the vacuum-insulation seal (industry-standard for double-wall insulated steel), states it is not exposed to the user, and says Fellow tests all consumer-exposed surfaces for heavy metals as part of its certification process. That is more specific than a bare "lead-free" claim - it names where the lead is and what gets tested - though no independent third-party lab report or actual test numbers are published.
