Genuinely minimizes plastic in the water path: filtered water lives in a 304 stainless chamber and leaves through a steel spigot with a ceramic valve, so what you drink hasn't sat against plastic. Plastic is pushed out to the filter housing itself — hard to avoid in an activated-carbon element — rather than the storage or dispensing surfaces. It's a steel-first design, not a steel veneer over a plastic interior.
